Sainsbury’s Signs PPA for Electricity from Pines Burn Wind Farm

British supermarket chain 's has entered a 15-year (PPA) to offtake all electricity generated by ' 33.6-MW Pines Burn wind farm in .

The newly operational wind farm, featuring seven turbines, is expected to produce around 92,000 MWh annually.

Sainsbury's involvement has been pivotal in the delivery of the project, which follows their collaboration with Capital Dynamics on the 50-MW Longhill Burn wind farm.

Together, these partnerships contribute to the retailer's goal of achieving net zero emissions in its operations by 2035. The energy from Pines Burn will cover approximately 8% of Sainsbury's total annual energy needs in the UK.

Capital Dynamics highlighted the importance of strong corporate partnerships in advancing the UK's position and supporting national carbon reduction goals.
