Australian energy company Firm Power has announced plans to develop a battery energy storage system (BESS) in New South Wales.
The project, located near Bendeela Road in Kangaroo Valley, is still in its early development phase and will soon be open for public consultation, with the first event scheduled for October 16.
Firm Power has secured the land for the BESS, and the initial stages of development are underway. The project is expected to be fully developed by early 2028.
The facility will be situated near the Kangaroo Valley substation, with plans to connect to the local transmission grid operated by Transgrid.
Once all necessary permits are in place, construction is expected to take up to 18 months. The BESS is being designed with a lifespan exceeding 20 years.
