The Burdekin Shire Council has approved the construction of a large-scale solar complex in Queensland, Australia, to be developed by Cambridge RE Partners.
The project, known as the Cambridge Solar Farm, will begin with an initial capacity of 300 MW and is planned to expand in three stages to over 1 GW.
The council granted approval on October 8, requiring the project to adhere to the approved plans and comply with local regulations.
The first stage will see the installation of a 400-MW direct current solar system in the Upper Haughton locality.
Spanning 1,566 hectares, the development application outlines a 300-MW grid-connected solar farm with the potential for an additional 765 MW of future capacity. The total investment value is estimated at AUD 2.4 billion.
