Israel's Ashtrom Renewable Energy, part of the Ashtrom Group, has successfully brought online its 306-megawatt (MW) / 400-MW DC Tierra Bonita solar park in Texas, achieving commissioning ahead of schedule.
The developer announced the plant was energized earlier than planned due to obtaining the necessary approvals for commercial operations sooner than anticipated.
Located in Pecos County, Texas, the photovoltaic (PV) farm spans approximately 2,200 acres and has recently secured green loan funding. The facility will operate under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with CPS Energy, which has committed to purchasing 60% of the electricity generated. The remaining power will be sold on the free market.
Tierra Bonita is expected to produce enough electricity annually to meet the consumption needs of about 75,000 homes. The project was realized with an investment of USD 435 million (EUR 396.8 million), including USD 165 million in equity.
Additionally, Ashtrom has completed a Tax Credit Transfer Agreement for solar production tax credits (PTCs) under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
