Badenova, a Freiburg-based energy company, has received approval to construct a 36-megawatt wind park in the southern region of the Black Forest mountains in Germany.
The Sirnitz/Dreispitz wind farm will consist of five Vestas V172 turbines, each with a capacity of 7.2 megawatts and a height of 261 meters. The facility is projected to generate over 70 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, sufficient to power nearly 50,000 households. Operations are expected to begin by late 2026 or early 2027.
The project received its construction permit from the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district administration office on October 2, following a comprehensive review process that began with an application in May 2023. During this review, local residents were invited to express any objections to the project.
In addition to its wind power initiatives, Badenova is involved in the RHYn Interco project, which aims to adapt the gas infrastructure in Freiburg and Kehl for hydrogen transport. The company is also working on the H2@Hochrhein pipeline project, designed to supply green hydrogen to energy-intensive industries along the Upper Rhine.
