A joint venture led by Nordex is spearheading the H2OP project, aimed at decarbonizing industrial processes through the production of green hydrogen. This initiative is based in Navarra, Spain, and involves the collaboration of partners including Viscofan, Ain, and Uraphex.
The project will see the installation of a 500kW electrolyzer, designed and manufactured entirely in Spain by Nordex Electrolyzers, at Viscofan's facilities in Caseda. This prototype is expected to produce over 10 kg/h of hydrogen, which will be utilized to replace natural gas in steam generation, thereby contributing to the decarbonization of Viscofan's plant.
H2OP is part of a strategic R&D project grant program from the Government of Navarre's Department of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition, with a total grant of €838,428.98 funded by the Government of Navarre and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Nordex Electrolyzers, a joint venture between the public company Sodena and Nordex Group, focuses on the design, manufacture, and installation of pressurized alkaline electrolysers for green hydrogen production. The company is headquartered in Navarra and Puertollano, Spain, and is working on the development of a 2.5MW prototype.
