and TotalEnergies have entered into a partnership to jointly develop two major wind projects off the German coast, with a combined capacity of 4GW. As part of the deal, TotalEnergies will acquire a 50% equity stake in both projects from RWE.

The projects, located approximately 110 to 115 km northwest of the island of Borkum, are situated on the N-9.1 and N-9.2 sites, each capable of accommodating 2GW of offshore wind capacity. The two energy giants had previously announced their collaboration plans when RWE won the sites in an August offshore wind auction in .

Final investment decisions are expected by 2027 and 2028 for the respective sites. If grid connection permits are confirmed, offshore construction is projected to begin in 2029 and 2030, with full commissioning targeted for 2031 and 2032.

RWE Offshore Wind CEO Sven Utermohlen expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the companies' shared ambition to drive the growth of offshore wind energy and accelerate Germany's energy transition. Utermohlen highlighted the successful collaboration between RWE and TotalEnergies on the Dutch project, underscoring the strength of the partnership.

Olivier Jouny, Senior Vice President of Renewables at TotalEnergies, remarked that the new partnership will deepen their presence in Germany's market—the largest in Europe—and contribute to the country's decarbonization efforts by providing green energy to support both its electricity and industrial sectors.
