Aula Energy, a platform established by Macquarie Asset Management, has joined forces with RES Group as a co-investor in the 612-MW Argoon wind farm project in New South Wales, Australia. The partnership was announced on Friday, with both companies agreeing to collaborate in advancing the development of the project. Specific details regarding Aula Energy's investment were not disclosed in the statement.
The Argoon wind farm is set to be constructed near Jerilderie, within the New South Wales South-West Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the annual demand of up to 430,000 homes, contributing significantly to the region's renewable energy capacity.
Initial feasibility studies for the Argoon project were completed by RES in 2022. The collaboration between RES and Aula marks another joint venture for the two firms, which previously partnered on the 209-MW Murra Warra II wind farm in Victoria. That project was later sold to investment manager Partners Group.
Matt Rebbeck, CEO of RES in Australia, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating that it underscores their commitment to the energy transition and builds on their established working relationship with Macquarie.
In addition to developing the Argoon wind farm, RES will establish a new operations and maintenance hub and an education and training facility in the Riverina region as part of its ongoing project development efforts.
