Spanish civil engineering and construction company Obrascon Huarte Lain SA (OHLA) has announced the award of a contract to construct a 54-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic plant in Palencia, located in northern Spain.
The new facility will be part of a larger cluster of projects in the Palencia province, which will collectively have a total installed capacity of 150 MW and a combined investment of EUR 80 million (USD 89.6 million).
The solar farm will utilize 88,500 bifacial photovoltaic panels, capable of generating electricity sufficient for approximately 37,000 households annually.
The installation will incorporate a solar tracking system and an optimized direct current connection, enhancing both efficiency and assembly times. In addition to the solar plant, OHLA will also design and construct a step-up substation that will connect all projects within the cluster.
This contract marks the fifth renewable energy project awarded to OHLA in Spain this year, contributing to a total contract value nearing EUR 200 million.
The company currently manages a portfolio of nearly 35 renewable energy projects across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with a total capacity exceeding 2,600 MW from completed plants and those under construction.
