Energiekontor AG has announced the commencement of construction for three solar parks and one wind farm, totaling a combined capacity of 125 megawatts (MW). The Bremen-based renewable energy developer confirmed on Monday that it has successfully secured financing for these initiatives.
The company received a loan specifically for two solar parks located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. With a combined capacity of 113 megawatt-peak (MWp), these plants are anticipated to begin operations by mid-2026.
In a significant move, Energiekontor has established a 15-year agreement with German steel manufacturer Salzgitter AG, allowing for the annual sale of 120 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of green electricity produced by the solar facilities.
In addition, the company has finalized funding for the Koenigsfeld solar park in Baden-Wuerttemberg, which boasts a nominal capacity of 4.6 MWp. This project, having emerged victorious in a recent German solar tender, is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2025.
Energiekontor has also achieved financial closure for a 7.2 MW wind project situated in Verden, Lower Saxony. This initiative was awarded a contract in Germany's onshore wind power capacity tender held in February 2024.
With the addition of these four projects, Energiekontor is currently developing a total of three wind parks and five solar parks, resulting in a cumulative capacity exceeding 230 MW. Upon completion, these projects will enhance the company's portfolio to a total capacity of 610 MW.
