German energy group RWE AG has contracted Lamprell Energy Ltd to supply transition pieces for two offshore wind projects in the UK, boasting a combined capacity of 2.8 GW.
The agreements pertain to the Norfolk Vanguard West and Norfolk Vanguard East projects located off the east coast of the UK, which RWE acquired earlier this year along with the Norfolk Boreas project.
Under these contracts, Lamprell will manufacture and supply a total of 92 transition pieces for each wind farm and will handle the transportation of the structures to RWE's designated marshalling port once it is confirmed.
The contracts, finalized during the WindEnergy Hamburg 2024 conference, reflect RWE's commitment to advancing these projects.
The Norfolk initiatives already possess seabed rights, grid connections, and development consent orders, with onshore construction of the substations currently in progress. RWE plans to enter the Norfolk Vanguard projects into an upcoming contracts for difference auction to secure further funding.
