Bernalillo County, New Mexico, has approved taxable industrial revenue bonds (IRB) of up to $942 million (EUR 846 million) for Ebon Solar's proposed photovoltaic (PV) cell manufacturing facility.
The resolution to issue the bonds was unanimously passed by the county's commissioners on Tuesday evening.
Ebon Solar, headquartered in Singapore, plans to construct the factory in the Mesa del Sol industrial development area, a project projected to create 911 jobs in the region.
In addition to the bonds, the project will receive $10 million in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funding from the New Mexico Economic Development Department, as well as $1 million from the City of Albuquerque.
“This project represents the type of advanced renewable energy manufacturing I want in my district, Bernalillo County, and our state. Bringing over 900 new jobs to central New Mexico is a significant win for our region,” stated District 2 Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada.
