Eurus Energy Begins Verification Test to Enhance Efficiency at Soya Misaki Wind Farm

Holdings Corp has announced the start of a verification test aimed at improving wind power generation efficiency at its 57-MW Eurus Soya Misaki wind farm in .

The company plans to attach a specially treated riblet film to the blades of selected wind turbines onsite, a technology developed by Nikon Corporation.

The riblet film will remain in place for one year, during which Eurus will collect data to evaluate the increase in power output and assess the durability of the treated surfaces. This marks Japan's first attempt to conduct such a verification test.

Eurus intends to compare the performance of three pairs of 1-MW wind turbines under similar wind conditions—one turbine with the riblet film and one without. The Soya Misaki wind farm comprises a total of 57 turbines.

Nikon anticipates that the use of riblet films could lead to a 3% increase in wind power generation efficiency for the turbines involved in the test.
