German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex SE has obtained provisional type certification for its N175/6.X turbine model, following the installation of the first unit in Germany this summer.
The certification was issued by German safety inspection group TUV SUD, under the IECRE Provisional Type Certificate (P-TC).
This milestone allows Nordex to begin series production of the turbine while field tests continue on the prototype. The type certification also includes the “Design Evaluation Conformity Statement” (DECS), ensuring the N175/6.X turbine adheres to international standards, according to the company.
Nordex introduced the N175/6.X turbine in the third quarter of 2022, and the first unit was installed at a hub height of 112 meters in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany.
A second prototype, with a hub height of 179 meters, is set to be installed in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania later this year.
