ScottishPower Renewables has received planning consent for its 65MW Hollandmey hybrid renewables project in the Scottish Highlands. The development will consist of 10 wind turbines delivering 50MW of onshore wind capacity, combined with a 15MW solar array and 15MW of battery energy storage.

Located 8 kilometers southwest of John O’Groats, the project is expected to generate enough green electricity to power approximately 40,000 homes.

Gillian Noble, ScottishPower’s onshore managing director, stated, “We’ve received consent for our Hollandmey project, providing enough green electricity for around 40,000 homes. In building onshore wind, solar, and battery together we can maximise the electricity we are able to generate at the site and deliver to homes and businesses across the UK.”

Additionally, ScottishPower has agreed to provide a £50,000 contribution to support the electric vehicle network in the Highlands, alongside a yet-to-be-finalized community benefit package.
