IB Solar, a Noida-based solar energy company, is making significant strides in expanding its PV module manufacturing capacity to keep pace with the growing demand for renewable energy. The company has announced the addition of a fully automated 400 MW production line to its Greater Noida facility, bringing its total manufacturing capacity to 500 MW. The new line is set to become operational by July this year.
Abhinav Mahajan, the Director of IB Solar, stated that the new 400 MW facility will be capable of producing M10, half-cut, 144-cell modules. Cliantech Solutions and Technologies Llp has been selected as the supply, installation, and after-sales support partner for the production equipment sourced from China.
IB Solar is currently operating a 100 MW facility that produces poly and monocrystalline modules. However, with the addition of the new production line, the company will be able to meet the growing demand for solar modules in India and overseas markets.
Mahajan also revealed that IB Solar is planning to enter into cell manufacturing by 2026 and is currently in talks with several European and foreign companies for potential joint ventures. This move will help the company to become more self-reliant and ensure a consistent supply of high-quality cells for its module production lines.
The Indian solar industry has been growing rapidly in recent years, and IB Solar's expansion plans are an indication of the country's potential to become a global leader in renewable energy. With more companies investing in solar energy and the government's focus on clean energy, India is poised to become a major player in the renewable energy sector.
