Elawan Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google for a 37MW (dc) solar energy project in Texas, with commercial operations expected to begin in 2026.
The agreement was facilitated through the LevelTen Energy Accelerated Process (LEAP), a platform co-developed by Google and LevelTen Energy to streamline the procurement of renewable energy PPAs.
This project is part of Elawan Energy's broader efforts to expand its renewable energy presence in North America. The company operates 1.8GW of renewable energy projects worldwide and has approximately 8GW in development.
In the US, Elawan and its parent company, Orix, manage a portfolio of over 300MW across key energy markets, including ERCOT, SPP, and PJM. The company also has development teams based in Houston, Texas.
For Google, this PPA aligns with its goal of sourcing clean energy to support its global operations. The agreement is another step toward achieving carbon-free energy operations. Through partnerships like this, Google aims to increase its use of renewable energy and reduce its overall carbon emissions.
