RPlus Energies has commenced construction on the Green River Energy Center, a large-scale renewable energy project in Eastern Utah that includes a 400MW solar facility and a 400MW battery storage system. This project, one of the largest of its kind in the United States, will provide power to PacifiCorp under a power purchase agreement (PPA).
The Green River Energy Center, expected to create about 500 jobs, is backed by more than $1 billion in construction debt financing secured earlier this year. Many of the positions will be filled by local workers, offering a significant economic boost to the surrounding community.
Sundt Construction has been selected as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, while EliTe Solar will supply the solar modules. Tesla will provide the battery storage system, which will enhance the project's capacity to store and deliver renewable energy.
Luigi Resta, president and chief executive of RPlus Energies, emphasized the importance of partnerships in the success of the project. “It's the partners that make this project special, that have made this monumental project possible,” he said, acknowledging the contributions of equipment providers, local talent, and community support.
The Green River Energy Center is a key step in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Utah and supporting broader efforts to transition to cleaner energy sources across the region.
