Community Windpower has rebranded as CWP Energy, reflecting its strategic shift to diversify beyond its core focus on onshore wind generation. The newly named company will now also invest in solar power, battery storage, and green hydrogen technologies as part of its broader renewable energy portfolio.
Since its founding in 2001, CWP Energy has secured a development pipeline exceeding 3GW, with nearly £1 billion in capital investment. The company will continue its commitment to local power generation, emphasizing job creation and economic investment in communities across the UK. To date, CWP Energy has provided over £10 million in community investment funding through its nine operational wind farms in Scotland.
Rod Wood, Managing Director of CWP Energy, noted that the rebranding reflects the company's expanded ambitions. “Our new identity reflects the new strategic direction to widen and expand our renewable energy investments in Scotland and the United Kingdom, to support the urgent transition away from fossil fuels to green energy,” he said.
This expansion is expected to generate substantial job opportunities in civil and electrical engineering, renewable energy, and construction, contributing to economic growth across the UK.
