HSM Offshore Energy has successfully executed the load out and sail away of a topside and jacket for the N05-A platform, an offshore wind-powered gas production platform in the North Sea. Upon completion, the N05-A platform will be the first electrified gas production platform in the region, operating entirely on renewable energy from the nearby Riffgat offshore wind farm.
The N05-A platform is designed as a permanent manned installation, but will operate as a Not Normally Manned Installation (NNMI), effectively making it an Autonomous Production Location (APL). It will connect to the Noordgastransport (NGT) pipeline network via an export pipeline.
The topside and jacket were loaded onto the H-406 barge, owned by Heerema Marine Contractors, using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) operated by Mammoet and managed by HSM Offshore Energy. The components will be transported to their installation site in the North Sea, with installation expected to follow.
ONE-Dyas, the platform's operator, anticipates that gas production will commence by December 2024.
Hans Leerdam, Commercial Director of HSM Offshore Energy, commented on the achievement, saying, “This milestone underscores our dedication to pioneering innovative solutions in the offshore energy sector. The successful load out and sail away of the N05-A topside and jacket demonstrate our team's expertise and commitment to excellence. We are excited to contribute to the energy transition and a sustainable energy mix with this groundbreaking project.”
