The latest research by solar consultancy group SunWiz has revealed that Australia's rooftop solar PV market experienced a significant rebound in July 2024, with a 23% month-on-month increase in installations. Deployment volumes reached 302MW, marking a record for the mid-year interval (April to October) and the fifth-highest month on record.
This growth comes after a decline in June 2024, which saw installations drop to 247MW, the lowest since January. The July figures significantly surpass those of 2023, 2022, and 2021, none of which exceeded the 275MW monthly deployment mark.
Additionally, the national average system size has been increasing since March 2024, reaching 10.06kW in July. This is the second-highest figure in the past year, following December 2023's peak of over 10.4kW.
All Australian states and territories saw growth in their rooftop solar PV sectors in July, with cumulative volumes increasing by more than 20% across the board. Tasmania led with a 30% month-on-month growth, followed by the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia at 27%. The Northern Territory saw a 26% increase, New South Wales 24%, Victoria 23%, Queensland 22%, and Western Australia 21%.
