Banco de Sabadell SA announced on Friday its commitment to provide EUR 20 million (USD 21.7 million) in financing for solar self-consumption systems at SEAT's automotive facilities in Catalonia.
In addition to the financial support, Sabadell's renewables-focused equity investment division, Sinia Renovables, has acquired a 49% stake in the solar project, which involves installing 26.46 MWp of solar arrays.
The remaining 51% of the project is held by Conecta2Energia, a Spanish independent energy trader and project leader. Grupo Greening 2022 SA will oversee the construction of the solar systems.
This initiative is part of SEAT's SEAT al Sol 2 project, which will cover three sites in Catalonia. Once operational, the solar panels are expected to supply approximately 11% of SEAT's total power consumption, according to Banco Sabadell.
