The Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency has initiated its first offshore wind measurement campaign, in line with the nation's Social-Economic Development Strategy 2022-2026.
This project aims to explore and harness Azerbaijan's offshore wind energy potential.
In collaboration with Finland's Vaisala, the agency has installed two advanced LiDAR devices at designated sites.
These devices employ laser beams to measure wind speed and direction up to 10 kilometers away, creating virtual measurement points at heights of 75 meters, 150 meters, and 225 meters.
Kamran Huseynov, deputy director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency, stated, “This initiative not only enhances our understanding of offshore wind potential but also solidifies Azerbaijan's commitment to a sustainable green energy future.”
