Global shipments of photovoltaic (PV) trackers increased by 28% in 2023, reaching 92 gigawatts (GW) direct current (DC), driven by robust utility-scale solar performance worldwide, according to a Wood Mackenzie report.
The top ten suppliers dominated the market, collectively accounting for 90% of global shipments. Nextracker Inc and Array Technologies maintained their leading positions for the ninth consecutive year, while GameChange Solar, which saw a 55% increase, moved into third place. These three U.S.-based companies together represented over 50% of global tracker shipments and 90% of the U.S. market.

In the U.S., the largest market for PV trackers, shipments rose by 10% year-over-year to exceed 37 GW DC, bolstered by incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act.
Spain emerged as the largest European market, contributing more than 50% of the continent's demand. PV Hardware (PVH) led shipments in Europe and was the second-largest supplier in Spain behind Solar Steel. The global top ten also included two other Spanish manufacturers, Soltec and Axial.
Despite over 140 GW DC of utility-scale solar installations in China, the domestic PV tracker market declined to 4.3 GW DC in 2023.
The lower demand for trackers compared to fixed-tilt products, due to their cost advantages, contributed to this decrease. Nevertheless, TrinaTracker and Arctech improved their positions, expanding their regional presence in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Latin America.
