Acciona Energia, a Spanish renewable energy company, has announced plans to commission its 27-megawatt Opor wind farm in Croatia by April 2025. The wind farm, located in the Split-Dalmatia region, is currently under construction across three villages with an investment exceeding EUR 37 million (USD 40 million).
The Opor wind farm will feature six Nordex N149 turbines, each with a 4.5-megawatt capacity and a hub height of 105 meters. Upon completion, the facility is expected to generate approximately 75 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, sufficient to power around 15,650 homes.
Acciona Energia is also working on the 45-megawatt Boraja II wind project in Croatia, with both Opor and Boraja II benefiting from a 12-year contract for difference (CfD) with the Croatian power and gas regulator, Hrvatski operator tržišta energije (HROTE). This CfD was awarded through a public auction, part of a program approved by the Croatian government and the European Commission.
The Boraja II wind project is slated for commissioning in May 2025. Currently, Acciona Energia operates a 30-megawatt wind farm, Jelinak, in Croatia, which has been in operation since 2013.
