Canadian Solar Inc's energy storage unit, e-STORAGE, has been contracted to deliver an 11-MW/22-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Essex County, southeast England.
The system is for the Coryton Energy Park project in Corringham, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
e-STORAGE, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, has been hired by Root-Power Ltd, a unit of UK-based smart energy generation and storage solutions provider YLEM Group.
Under supply and long-term service agreements, e-STORAGE will provide its SolBank energy storage solution.
This system includes high-density lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells, an active balancing battery management system (BMS), and a liquid cooling thermal management system (TMS).
The contract supports Root-Power's goal to develop over 1 GWh of energy storage systems in the UK within the next three to four years. Approximately 150 MWh of new storage capacity is scheduled for deployment in 2024 and 2025.
