Sustainable Fuel Plant Group Secures EUR 120 Million for Biomethane Projects

Sustainable Fuel Plant Group (SFP), a renewable gas producer and portfolio company of French investment firm SWEN Capital Partners, has announced the successful raising of EUR 120 million (USD 131.2 million) to finance the construction of two 20-megawatt (MW) plants in the Netherlands.

The new facilities are expected to enhance SFP's production capacity to 800 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of biomethane annually, sufficient to meet the energy needs of approximately 50,000 households.

The green loan was provided by Dutch banks and ING Groep NV, along with Paris-based private debt specialist Zencap Asset Management. SWEN Capital Partners also participated in the financing.

SFP highlighted the significance of the financing, stating, “This important step strengthens our position in the biomethane sector and enables us to contribute even more to a sustainable and clean future.”

ABN Amro underscored that this financing aligns with its commitment to sustainable financing and the promotion of sources.

Founded in 2020, SFP currently operates the SFP Zeeland facility and plans to develop and operate between eight and ten additional plants by 2030. The company's expansion strategy includes growth in the Netherlands, , Poland, Spain, and Italy.
