U.S. clean energy company LLC has entered into a contract with Tesla to supply 15.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of Megapack units for its projects through 2030, the company announced on Friday.

The agreement entails installing the battery units across Intersect Power's solar-plus- sites. Over half of the contracted capacity will be allocated to four battery energy storage systems (BESS) planned for and , which are expected to be operational by the end of 2027. The remainder will support Intersect Power's future solar-storage projects set for commissioning between 2028 and 2030.

Tesla will manufacture the Megapacks at its megafactory in Lathrop, California, with deliveries scheduled for 2025 and 2026.

Sheldon Kimber, CEO of Intersect Power, highlighted the significance of the deal, stating, “This storage franchise is the perfect complement to our multi-billion dollar expansion of renewable generation that is expected to more than triple the size of our company over the next three years.”

With this new order, Intersect Power's total Megapack capacity from Tesla will reach nearly 10 GWh by the end of 2027. This includes a previous supply of 2.4 GWh of Megapacks already deployed or under construction at various hybrid solar-storage sites, including the Oberon solar park in California and multiple battery systems in Texas.
