BadaEnergy, a joint venture between Corio Generation, TotalEnergies, and SK Eco Plant, has completed the environmental impact assessment (EIA) discussions for the 1500MW Gray Whale Floating Offshore Wind Power Project located off the coast of Ulsan, South Korea.
The consultation on the main plan marks the final stage of the EIA, which involves a thorough investigation of the project's potential impact on various environmental factors, including the marine ecosystem. BadaEnergy has emphasized the importance of these procedures in ensuring the project's compliance with environmental standards.
“The important procedures to be prepared have been successfully completed,” BadaEnergy stated. In November 2021, the initial environmental impact assessment preparation for the project was submitted, and over the next two years, the project underwent consultations with the Ministry of Environment and other related organizations.
The project has now received final approval from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Moving forward, BadaEnergy plans to collaborate with the local community, industry, and supply chain to establish a sustainable business environment, aiming to revitalize the local economy and create jobs.
BadaEnergy's successful navigation of the EIA process highlights the project's potential to contribute significantly to South Korea's renewable energy goals while ensuring environmental protection.
