Atlantic Copper Secures Green Power from Spanish Solar Park

, a subsidiary of the US natural resources group Freeport-McMoRan Inc, has announced it will source electricity from a new 23-megawatt-peak (MWp) park located in eastern Spain.

This move is part of the company's ongoing efforts to transition towards sources.

The company has signed two separate power purchase agreements (PPAs) with a 10-year duration each. Under these agreements, Atlantic Copper will acquire electricity from the Sant Jordi (PV) plant in the Castellon province.

The deal was facilitated by Switzerland-based integrated energy firm , whose Spanish arm partnered with domestic solar development and EPC services provider Prosolia Energy. The electricity supply will be managed through independent trader Fortia Energia.

Esther Alonso, General Manager of Energy Transition and Sustainability at Atlantic Copper, commented, “This new clean energy supply agreement, the fifth in a portfolio that we began six years ago and which now accounts for 38% of our electricity purchases, is part of our decarbonisation strategy and our commitment to the use of renewable energies to guarantee a secure, competitive and clean supply.”
