Renewables developer rPlus Energies has secured more than USD 1 billion (EUR 917 million) in construction debt financing for its Green River Energy Centre in Utah, one of the largest planned solar-plus-storage facilities in the region.
Located in Emery County, the Green River Energy Centre will combine 400 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity with a substantial 400-MW/1,600-MWh battery storage system. The project includes a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PacifiCorp, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.
Engineering, procurement, and construction services will be provided by Sundt Renewables.
Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, KeyBanc Capital Markets, MUFG Bank Ltd, Truist Securities Inc, and Wells Fargo Securities LLC were involved as coordinating lead arrangers for the debt financing, with MUFG serving as the administrative agent for the lenders.
rPlus Energies' president and CEO Luigi Resta emphasized that the Green River Energy Centre marks the company's entry into independent power production. This significant financing underscores the project's role in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Utah.
