The Haewoori offshore wind project, spearheaded by Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), has successfully concluded its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultation with South Korea's Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Located 80 kilometers off the coast of Ulsan, the 1.5GW floating wind project is being developed by COP on behalf of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
Jonathan Spink, co-chief executive of COP Korea and chief executive of Haewoori Offshore Wind, highlighted the project's commitment to sustainability, stating, “The completion of the EIA consultation is meaningful as we focus on corporate social responsibility and sustainable development across our entire floating offshore wind portfolio in Ulsan.”
The EIA process included a comprehensive analysis of potential impacts on both offshore and onshore ecosystems, covering aspects such as marine and onshore environmental quality, noise levels, and socioeconomic factors.
Haewoori Offshore Wind has actively engaged with local authorities and the public to incorporate their feedback, ensuring responsible development practices aligned with corporate social responsibility.
