Windel Energy, in partnership with Canadian Solar Inc's Recurrent Energy, has secured a development permit from the British Department for Energy Security and Net Zero for their joint venture's 350 MW Mallard Pass Solar Farm in England, the companies announced on Friday.
The development consent order (DCO) allows for the installation of the Mallard Pass photovoltaic (PV) farm on agricultural land spanning South Kesteven, Lincolnshire, and Rutland.
Situated near the Uffington Lane National Grid substation, the solar complex is projected to generate approximately 350,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually. This output is equivalent to powering approximately 92,000 British homes with green energy.
The DCO application for the Mallard Pass project was initially submitted to the Planning Inspectorate in November 2022, with examination proceedings commencing in May of the following year. Given its capacity exceeding 50 MW, the project qualifies as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP), necessitating the issuance of the DCO.
