Lithuanian energy firm Ignitis Grupe AB announced today the operational launch of its 22-MW solar project situated next to an existing wind farm in Taurage, Lithuania.
This facility is expected to generate sufficient clean electricity to meet the annual demands of approximately 13,000 households. Coupled with the existing 25 MW of wind capacity on-site, the hybrid complex is poised to supply power to around 40,000 local homes.
The Taurage solar farm, which broke ground in August and saw completion recently, required an investment of about EUR 14 million (USD 15.1 million), marking a cost saving of approximately 12.5% from initial estimates.
With this latest addition, Ignitis expands its portfolio of renewable energy installations to 1.4 GW, reinforcing its trajectory toward achieving between 4 GW and 5 GW by 2030.
