EiDF Solar has announced the acquisition of all necessary permits to commence construction on its 50MW photovoltaic generation facility in Valdefresno, León, reinforcing its commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure in Spain.
The €40 million solar array will span 149 hectares, featuring over 99,000 TIER 1 photovoltaic modules across a total generation area exceeding 140,000 square meters. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, with an estimated completion period of seven months. The electricity generated will be supplied to the group's internal marketers.
Joan Gelonch, CEO of EiDF, expressed enthusiasm for the project's significance: “This is a facility of great importance for us, as it marks a new milestone for our teams. With it, we not only demonstrate our capacity for planning and execution, but also reaffirm ourselves as a benchmark company in our sector.”
The initiative aligns with EiDF's recently unveiled five-year strategic plan, aimed at leveraging Spain's National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan objectives. This plan anticipates EBITDA growth to €233.9 million by 2028, underscoring EiDF's commitment to contributing to Spain's renewable energy targets.
“The new plan presented by the government until 2030 contemplates efforts even greater than those proposed by the European Union itself, especially in terms of the presence of renewables in the energy mix. At EiDF we are very proud to do our bit to meet these requirements, as well as to promote clean energy,” Gelonch added.
