Swedish electrofuel plants developer Liquid Wind and German energy group Uniper SE have embarked on a strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating the development of commercial-scale e-fuel facilities and promoting sustainable energy solutions.
Under the newly signed partnership agreement, Liquid Wind will provide development services for Uniper's upcoming e-fuel plants, leveraging its expertise in electro-fuels technology. In return, Uniper will supply fossil-free electricity to support Liquid Wind's projects and act as an off-taker for e-methanol produced, facilitating its commercial distribution.
“The partnership with Uniper marks a significant milestone in our efforts to advance the production and adoption of e-fuels,” stated a spokesperson from Liquid Wind. “Together, we aim to drive innovation in sustainable energy solutions and contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the energy sector.”
This collaboration builds upon an existing relationship between the two companies, with Uniper having become a major investor in Liquid Wind back in 2021. Liquid Wind, based in Gothenburg and founded in 2017, is committed to finalizing investment decisions on over 10 projects by 2027, furthering its mission to promote environmentally friendly energy alternatives across Nordic and global markets.
