EDP Renováveis SA announced on Wednesday a significant development with the signing of a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in the US for a 150-MW/213-MW DC solar project in Illinois.
The PPA, which covers 90% of the project's output, involves a major US technology company as the off-taker. Located in Fulton County, on land formerly used for coal mining, the solar project is expected to begin operations next year.
EDP Renováveis, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, highlighted this agreement as a strategic step in its expansion of solar capacity in North America.
