EnviTec Biogas has introduced its EnviThan gas upgrading system into the Swedish biogas market, securing a significant expansion project at Vårgårda-Herrljunga Biogas. The newly planned facility, designed to meet the DIN standard for vehicle fuel, features EnviTec's technology capable of initially processing up to 402 Nm³ per hour of biomethane, with future expansion potential to 566 Nm³ per hour.
Maurice Markerink, Managing Director of EnviTec Plant Construction, emphasized the suitability of their EnviThan technology for the project, stating, “After thorough evaluation of power consumption, raw gas upgrading design, and quality standards, our EnviThan technology was selected.”
The project includes a skid-based raw gas upgrading system for efficient on-site installation, featuring a two-stage gas cooling system and the EnviTec Remote system for plant control. The biogas plant is integrated into a local 4-kilometer, 4-bar gas network connected to a high-pressure station, enabling the compression of biomethane to 250 bar for transport to CNG filling stations.
Utilizing a membrane-based process developed with Evonik Industries, EnviTec Biogas ensures an environmentally friendly gas upgrading process without chemicals or water additives. This selective separation method allows for the production of biomethane suitable for various applications, including as a sustainable fuel alternative.
With nine years of experience in the Scandinavian and Baltic markets, EnviTec Biogas continues to expand its presence. Markerink added, “Our plants in Denmark are operating reliably, and our facilities in Estonia, established four years ago, are attracting interest from customers.”
