Close Brothers Energy team and Enviromena, a clean energy solutions company, have successfully reached financial close on a £30 million project to build the Medebridge Solar Farm in Essex, England, the companies announced on Monday.
The solar farm, spanning 175 acres of low-grade agricultural land—equivalent to approximately 70 football pitches—will feature 104,000 solar panels upon completion. It is expected to generate enough electricity to power 25,000 homes.
Enviromena, operating globally in renewable energy development, construction, ownership, and operation, currently manages over 300MW of renewable projects. The company is actively advancing a pipeline of more than 3GW of renewable energy projects across the UK and Italy, aimed at significantly reducing carbon emissions and enhancing electricity networks.
“Having collaborated closely with Enviromena for several years, we are thrilled to have played a pivotal role in financing this substantial solar project,” stated Richie Kidd, Head of Sales for the Energy team at Close Brothers. “Enviromena's ambitious growth plans in solar power are truly inspiring, and we look forward to supporting them in achieving their goal of delivering 500MW of solar power in the UK.”
Chris Marsh, Chief Executive of Enviromena, emphasized the company's commitment to advancing the global transition to clean energy. “We value our strong partnership with the Close Brothers Energy team and anticipate continued collaboration as we work together in the months and years ahead,” Marsh stated.
