Edison SpA, a leading energy supplier headquartered in Milan, has announced the addition of a 45 MW portfolio of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Italy's Piedmont region, as part of its ongoing commitment to renewable energy expansion.
The new solar installations, developed by Edison Rinnovabili, include seven plants located in the provinces of Turin and Alessandria. These projects complement Edison's existing PV parks and are expected to boost the company's solar output in Piedmont to 70 GWh annually, catering to the energy needs of approximately 26,000 homes.
Edison aims to further strengthen its green energy footprint in the region, with four of the seven sites already operational and the remaining three slated to be grid-connected by the end of 2024.
Under its growth strategy, Edison plans to invest EUR 5 billion (USD 5.37 billion) in expanding its installed green energy capacity from 2 GW to 5 GW by 2030.
The company also aims to achieve a 40% share of green energy in its overall generation mix by the end of the decade, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
