Japan's Marubeni Group and Doosan Enerbility Vietnam (Doosan Vina) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing offshore wind power development in Vietnam. Under this agreement, the two companies will jointly assess the feasibility and potential for collaboration within Vietnam's burgeoning offshore wind sector.
Doosan Vina plans to leverage its manufacturing capabilities, intending to produce wind turbine monopile foundations and other critical components at its facility in Quang Ngai province, central Vietnam. Meanwhile, Marubeni seeks to forge partnerships with local Vietnamese manufacturers to foster economic growth and support the country's offshore wind industry development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Doosan Vina's general director, Kim Hyo Tae, underscored the company's commitment to aligning with Vietnam's ambitious target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Vietnam aims to achieve 6 GW of offshore wind power capacity by 2030, with a long-term goal of reaching between 70 GW and 91.5 GW by 2050.
