Orygen Launches 177-MW Wayra Extension Wind Farm in Peru

Independent power producer (IPP) has announced the official start of commercial operations at the 177-megawatt (MW) Wayra Extension located in 's Ica region.

The facility received approval from Peru's system operator, Comite de Operacion Economica del Sistema Interconectado Nacional (COES), marking a significant milestone for Orygen, as highlighted in a social media update.

Spanning 2,474 hectares in the Nazca province's Marcona district, Wayra Extension features 30 turbines and joins its predecessor, the 132-MW Wayra I, to form a combined 310-MW wind complex, touted as Peru's largest.

Orygen, established by private equity firm Actis in June, recently finalized the of Enel SpA's stakes in two Peruvian power generation companies, underscoring its expansion in the region.
