Qualitas Energy, a Spanish renewables investor, has acquired rights to develop a greenfield wind project in northern Germany, targeting a capacity of 56.7 megawatts (MW).
According to a press statement on Monday, the project plans to install eight turbines capable of meeting the electricity needs of over 38,000 local homes once operational.
Borja Caruana, Managing Director of Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH, expressed the company's strategic focus on expansion: “At Qualitas Energy, we are focused on growth, acquiring project rights for greenfield developments as well as existing parks for repowering projects throughout Germany.”
Qualitas Energy has committed approximately EUR 1.2 billion (USD 1.28 billion) towards acquiring and developing repowering and greenfield projects in Germany, aiming to build a pipeline of 4 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity.
Last month, the company also acquired a wind farm repowering project in Brandenburg, offering development potential of 36 MW.
