Sonnedix has completed the acquisition of a 42MW solar plant located in Carpio del Tajo, Toledo, further bolstering its operational capacity in the Spanish market. This acquisition, part of a larger portfolio acquired from Impax Asset Management, is set to increase Sonnedix's operational capacity in Spain to over 1GW by the end of 2024.
Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix, commented on the milestone: “The completion of this acquisition marks an important step in our journey towards achieving 1GW of operating capacity in Spain by the end of this year. We are committed to advancing our conversion and hybridisation strategy to meet Spain's growing demand for clean, secure, and flexible energy.”
The acquisition includes a portfolio that also features a 36MW solar plant in Herencia, Ciudad Real, acquired earlier from Impax Asset Management.
Carsten Johansen, Head of the PE/Infrastructure transaction team at Impax Asset Management, noted: “We are pleased to conclude our construction program in Spain with the operation of the 42MW Portachuelo solar plant. This transaction marks the completion of our exit program in Spain through our third fund, where we have successfully sold a combined 118MW of solar PV projects.”
