German developer ABO Wind has completed its transformation from a stock corporation (AG) to a partnership limited by shares (KGaA) and rebranded as ABO Energy, reflecting its expanded international focus on renewable energy technologies. The change, approved by shareholders in October 2023, aims to maintain the influence of founders Jochen Ahn and Matthias Bockholt on company decisions amidst future growth.
“We are very pleased that we can now begin a new chapter in our company history as ABO Energy KGaA,” said managing director Jochen Ahn, emphasizing continuity in corporate values and operations.
The rebranding follows a legal challenge that delayed implementation of the initial resolutions, with the Wiesbaden District Court now formally entering the new name in the commercial register. The company's international subsidiaries have already adopted the ABO Energy name.
“With our pipeline of 23GW across technologies and an additional 20-gigawatt hydrogen pipeline, we are very confident about the future,” added Dr. Ahn, highlighting the company's ambitious growth plans in renewable energy sectors.
ABO Energy aims to leverage its enhanced commitment to Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) to strengthen its position in the capital market while expanding existing partnerships forged during its 28-year history as ABO Wind.
