Waaree Energies Ltd, India's largest PV module manufacturer, has clinched a substantial contract with Spanish renewables giant Acciona Energia to provide photovoltaic (PV) modules for a major solar initiative in Rajasthan, India.
Sources familiar with the deal confirmed that Acciona's subsidiary, Juna Renewable Energy, has selected Waaree Energies to deliver high-efficiency p-type bifacial PV modules. These modules, rated between 540 Wp and 545 Wp, will be deployed on horizontal single-axis trackers.
The solar project, unveiled earlier this year, is slated to be located in Kawani village, Bikaner district, Rajasthan. Once operational by March 2025, it will represent Acciona's largest PV complex in India, boasting a capacity of 335 MW/412.5 MWp.
Waaree Energies, known for its extensive global presence, has already installed 12 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity worldwide as of mid-2023. This contract further solidifies its role in bolstering India's renewable energy landscape, following a recent agreement to supply 445 MW of bifacial modules for projects in Rajasthan with Statkraft AS, the Indian arm of Norway's state-owned power company.
