Vikram Solar, an Indian manufacturer specializing in solar modules, has secured a major contract to supply 393.9MW of modules for the Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat. The agreement, signed with NLC India, underscores Vikram Solar's pivotal role in India's renewable energy landscape.
Under the deal, Vikram Solar will provide its advanced 580Wp n-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) modules for the project, which is managed by the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL). These modules are part of India's approved list of models and manufacturers (ALMM), aimed at boosting domestic solar manufacturing.
Gyanesh Chaudhary, chairman and managing director of Vikram Solar, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, “This purchase order not only signifies NLC's deep trust in our expertise but also affirms our steadfast commitment to excellence. Vikram Solar is proud to be involved in India's unparalleled decarbonisation initiative.”
The Khavda Solar Park is poised to become the world's largest upon completion, with a staggering target capacity of 30GW for renewable energy generation. This ambitious project has garnered significant industry attention, with companies like Adani Green Power also making substantial investments in solar capacity at the site.
Additionally, Vikram Solar is expanding its global footprint through a joint venture with Phalanx Impact Partners to establish a vertically-integrated solar manufacturing facility in the United States. This initiative aims to bolster production capabilities across ingot, wafer, cell, and module segments, further enhancing the company's competitiveness in the international market.
