VSB Group has announced plans to commence construction on its inaugural photovoltaic venture in Sicily, marking a significant step towards Italy's renewable energy ambitions. The Ramacca ground-mounted solar plant, boasting a capacity of 60MWp, will be situated within the Catania metropolitan area.
Scheduled for commissioning in 2025, the project will unfold across a sprawling 100-hectare expanse in Ramacca, strategically located southwest of Catania. Upon completion, the photovoltaic park is projected to yield approximately 117,000MWh annually, sufficient to power about 40,000 typical households.
Giuseppe de Benedictis, managing director of VSB Italy, emphasized the company's robust portfolio, stating, “The VSB Italy team presently oversees 1.8GW of wind and photovoltaic projects in various stages of development. Ramacca stands as a testament to our proficiency in large-scale PV project execution.”
Dr. Felix Grolman, CEO of VSB Group, echoed enthusiasm for contributing to Italy's renewable energy objectives, remarking, “Italy aims to integrate over 50 gigawatts of PV capacity into the grid by 2030. We are delighted to bolster this initiative with our expertise.” He added, “Energy autonomy and reliability are pivotal for Europe, underpinned by stable electricity costs for consumers and businesses alike – all achievable through the accelerated expansion of renewable sources.”
VSB Group's venture underscores a pivotal stride in Italy's renewable energy landscape, aligning with broader European objectives towards sustainable energy practices and enhanced energy security.
