Vestas has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the second stage of TagEnergy's Golden Plains Wind Farm in Australia, confirming its position as a key player in the country's renewable energy landscape.
The second stage of the project will feature 93 of Vestas' V162-6.2 MW wind turbines from the EnVentus platform, adding an additional 577MW to the existing 756MW capacity of the first stage. Once completed, the combined capacity of 1.3GW will make it Vestas' largest-ever onshore wind farm.
Vestas is currently delivering the EPC contract for the first stage and will also provide a 30-year service and maintenance agreement (AOM5000) for both stages, ensuring optimal energy production for the Australian grid.
Purvin Patel, President of Vestas Asia Pacific, expressed the company's commitment to Australia's sustainable future, stating, “Through our best-in-class people, wind turbines, and capabilities, Vestas is delighted to build and service this landmark project.”
Andrew Riggs, Managing Director of TagEnergy, praised Vestas for its diligence and expertise, which he credited for the success of financial close for Stage 2. He said, “We look forward to continuing to work with Vestas.”
Delivery of Vestas' turbines for the second stage of the Golden Plains Wind Farm is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with commissioning scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
