Nextracker has joined forces with contract manufacturer Unimacts to inaugurate a new factory in Sloan, Nevada. The facility is dedicated to producing steel torque tubes for solar trackers, serving the burgeoning solar market in the Southwest US.
This new factory marks the second Nextracker-dedicated manufacturing line opened by Unimacts in less than a year. Together, these facilities are poised to support the installation of more than 2 GW of new solar power annually.
Nextracker's commitment to reshoring manufacturing is evident, with the company having opened or expanded over 20 US manufacturing facilities since 2021.
“In partnership with Nextracker and Unimacts, Copia Power is building a renewably-powered future. The transition to clean energy in America can be built with American-made products and constructed with local tradespersons, and that's the type of economic growth we are seeing here today,” remarked Ryan Galeria, Chief Development Officer at Copia Power. “Copia is proud to supply reliable, clean, and affordable renewable power to millions of Americans in the coming years.”
Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextracker, highlighted the importance of American manufacturing in the clean energy revolution, stating, “American manufacturing has quickly become the heartbeat of the clean energy revolution. There is a trifecta of perfect conditions for this manufacturing renaissance: a terrific workforce, a great localized clean steel industry, and strong demand for renewable energy. Over the last three years, Nextracker has operationalized over 20 factories, catalyzing thousands of jobs. This is what growth and scaling look like.”
With the addition of this new factory, Nextracker boasts an annual domestic solar tracker capacity of over 30 GW.
The American Clean Power Association (ACP) estimates that the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IRA) will help create 550,000 new clean energy jobs, more than doubling the current clean energy workforce. This growth is expected to support a direct workforce of nearly one million Americans by 2030, further solidifying the clean power industry's role in shaping the nation's economic future.
